Medication Take Back

Medication Take Backs are a free service Two Rivers performs on an annual basis in each of its counties and is free to anyone who has outdated prescription or over the counter medication to discard.  Medication take backs offer a safer alternative to drug destruction by incineration instead of traditional methods of flushing or landfill waste which can potentially contaminate our ground water.  Please consult the Two Rivers website for locations of take backs in your area.  Along with the medication take backs, Two Rivers offers a “water model” presentation to actually see how ground water contamination happens from septic systems to lake beds and streams.

Clean Indoor Act

On June 1, 2009, Nebraska became a smoke free state.  This means smoking is prohibited in indoor workspaces and indoor public places.  The law protects workers from secondhand smoke in all indoor areas of worksites and public places including factories, retail establishments, office buildings, restaurants, bars, bowling alleys and private club.  The law reflects Nebraska’s commitment to ensuring that workers and the public are protected from secondhand smoke.  A person who smokes or allows smoking in a place of employment or a public place is in violation of the Nebraska Clean Indoor Air Act and is guilty of a Class V misdemeanor.  If you have questions or would like to make a report on a suspected violation, you may visit the smoke free website at: smoke.free@dhhs.ne.gov or Heather Easton at Two Rivers Public Health Department.
